Can Vinyl Wrapping Help The Upcoming Ghostbusters Film?

By Paula Hess

There are few people who can deny the importance of Ghostbusters to the science fiction genre. It's easily one of the most respected, not only for its comedic value but the sheer imagination that has been put into the series for so long. For this reason, as well as others, I believe that there is quite a bit of attention drawn to the latest Ghostbusters movie that was announced. Can vinyl wrapping prove to be useful for this film's long-term success?

If you want to talk about the reasons behind this Ghostbusters movie's attention, I believe that the all-female cast has to be talked about. Personally, I feel optimistic about this change, especially when the four lead actresses discussed have been involved in Saturday Night Live. Nonetheless, remakes will always draw scrutiny, which is to be expected. However, I will give this film a chance, seeing as how I've been a fan of the series for many years.

It's important to keep in mind that the Ghostbusters, as a series, worked because of the premise. The idea of a small company, hired to protect the city against supernatural forces, is treated with a sense of self-awareness that's hard to describe. These individuals are not exactly the stereotypical heroes, which I'm sure is going to be a theme to carry over into this new movie. Of course, in order to said movie to be especially effective, advertising must be brought into effect.

As far as extensive marketing endeavors are concerned, I believe that there is discussion to be made about vinyl wrapping. The main reason for this - and I am sure that many others can agree - is because of how much attention vehicles can attract. However, in order for these particular wraps to be made well, it's understandable that the iconic Ghostbusters logo will have a presence. Along with visuals of the main cast, these are just a few ways to ensure the quality of these wraps.

Is this film going to be good or bad? It's difficult to say, since we only know so much about the movie itself, but it's unfortunate that there are so many people who are writing off this concept immediately. For me, this is a "wait and see" scenario in which people have to watch and see if the movie can hold up to the previous iterations. Once said movie proves itself, I am sure that praises will be the only things sang by fans of the series.
