3 Ways That You Should Be Using Video

By John Hagy

Everyone knows that video is a powerful medium for marketing a business, but I still can't believe how few business owners use video. It seems like the larger brands are spending millions of dollars on video, but small businesses can't afford to even look into using video. I understand that video seems daunting, but a little research and practice will have you producing decent quality video in no time. Here are a few ideas on how to use video once you know how to make them.

Product Demo: The entire software industry is all over this, but most small businesses in other industries forget about the product demo video. It is fairly simple to make one. Pull the product in close to the camera. Let's take a good look at what you have there. Examine everything from aesthetics to functionality. Customers don't need quite as much research time if you just dive in and show them everything.

Vlog Post: Nearly all websites post content in the form of blog posts, but why not put up a video instead. What I love about vlogging is that the audio can be transcribed to give you written content, too. Google loves the written word, but it loves video just as much if not more. Combine video into your blog posts and you might have a new stream of traffic on your hands.

Customer Support: There is no better way to respond to your customers, than with a personalized video that addresses your customers problems. That personal touch goes a long way in not just solving the customer's problem, but building trust also. I have seen companies do this with no editing, simply turn on a camera and record a response. If the response is genuine, then the production value is almost of no importance. Just be sure the audio is good.

These are just a few use cases for video, but I could make a list of 20 ways, and maybe I should. Video is not as difficult as people think. I use video now, just because I love it. You can transcribe the video or extract the audio to give your business the advantage of multiple types of media. Video can be edited quickly with great results or spend a bit longer on your videos and create an even better professional appearance.
