Knife Sharpening Cleveland Ohio Tips

By Jaclyn Hurley

Over time, knives would tend to get dull because it is being used all of the time and for many different purposes. It is for this purpose that knives have to be sharpened from time to time so that it will still be able to retain its sharpness. Now for those who do not know how to do this process, here are some knife sharpening cleveland ohio tips.

Now before one would even start with the process itself, he has to make sure that he would get himself a stone or rock that has a smooth surface. Now for those who do not know, the stone will be able to sharpen the blade if the blade is grazed against the rock. So before even starting, one has to put the stone in water to clean it a little bit.

Now the very first thing that one should know is that he will not be using the smooth side of this rock to sharpen the knife. He will be using the rough edge of the rock in order to make sure that the blade becomes sharp. Now in order to get the rough edge, he has to first break the stone into two.

To do this, one must first get his hands on a big nail and of course a hammer. Now he will be using the hammer and the nail to break the initial exterior of the rock so that he may be able to get into the interior. Now all he has to do here is to stick the nail in the middle of the stone and hammer it all the way in.

Now once there is already a stone in the hole, one can now take the nail out and get his drill. Since one part of the exterior has already been broken down by the nail, one may now use the drill to further penetrate the hole and eventually drill it down. So use the drill to crack the entire stone from the middle.

Now if the rock still does not want to break, then one would have to take more drastic measures. Now to totally slice the stone into half, one may use a saw to do this. Now once there are two pieces, one just needs to get any of those two pieces and place it on a flat and strong surface.

After that, he may now get his knife and start stroking the knife on the rough edge of the stone. He should stroke the blade in very swift but soft movements so that the blade will get sharper. Of course he should also do this carefully because if he is not careful, he might actually hurt himself sharpening the blade.

Another thing to always keep in mind is to never really push the knife too hard onto the rock because doing this might actually damage the metal. Now if the blade becomes damaged, then it will obviously not be as useful as it was before. So in order to prevent this, one has to make sure to push the knife lightly.
