Archery Hunting Equipment And Tips

By Anita Ortega

Whether you are a long time hunter or simply are curious as what it is about and what it entails, there are some things to remember. The following are a few tips to brush up on or take into account if it is your first hunt. Choosing the right bow and arrows is extremely important because they are the main archery hunting equipment and therefore make the top of the list.

As mentioned above, these are very important and you must make sure the arrows fit the type of bow you will be using. Although there are many types and styles of bows like the recurve, the traditional, and the longbow or crossbow; the one I recommend for taking down big game is the compound. These can also be bought in camouflage.

Regardless if you rather shoot traditional or with a compound bow you need to make sure the draw weight is not to hard or too soft for you. While it feels pretty good to say you use an 80 pound draw weight bow, it is better to be able to take down your prey instead of hassling with your strength while you are trying to concentrate on the hit. This will only frustrate and tire you quicker because the bow it too hard.

So after you got your preferred bow it is time to go for the right length in arrows. Now if you will be hunting it is recommended that you use the broadhead hunting tip. While hunting this the traditional type of tip but now a days these are available with three blades. If you will be using a crossbow the arrows are a little smaller but just as effective since the tips and varieties are the same for take down.

So once you have the weapon of choice you need the game bag and knives. A true hunter always brings back as much meat as he or she can. It is unethical to take the head only and leave any meat behind. So it is best to avoid really large animals if you will be hunting alone, especially if you have to walk quite a ways back to your camp.

Do not forget your knives and remember your binoculars. Because they come in handy while you are waiting for hours for your prey to show up. A camouflaged sweater or hat goes very well with the suit too. And do not forget your rain jacket, just in case!

If you can attach or put these items in the pockets of your suit it will be much easier once you get the kill, so all you have to hold in your hands and bring back is the game bag and bow. Although a light and small backpack is recommended for long waiting periods. Make sure you bring enough arrows as well if you will be out long just in case you lose a few.

This is a beautiful sport, is requires much patience but in the end it is worth it. You just need to remember to maintain your equipment up to standard to avoid and reckless accidents as well. This sport as been practiced many years by many hunters and the most important thing of all is patience.
